(2) Geographical indication (GI) means any indication referring to a product originating in a specific geographical area whose specific quality, reputation or other characteristic is essentially related to its geographical origin.
(3) The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), enables contracting parties to receive rapid high-level and indefinite protection for GIs. The Geneva Act updates the Lisbon Agreement and extends its scope to cover all GIs.
